Q Overview The final project for this course is the creation of a fashion forecast presentation. The fashion forecast presentation will summarize and highlight the best information (chosen company, defined customer, and identified styles or trends) distilled from the milestones submitted in Modules Two through Six. The PowerPoint presentation will be 10 to 12 slides and include speaker notes. The final product represents an authentic demonstration of competency because it presents the student’s work in an original fashion forecast presentation. The project is divided into six milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, and Seven. Guidelines Part I: Identify a Fashion Company and Target Customer • Describe a brief history of the company chosen—manufacturer or retailer. • Summarize the demographics, psychographics, and lifestyle of the target customer. • Create a picture collage that shows the target customer’s hobbies, foods enjoyed, car of choice, and leisure activities (create this collage on your own or with the use of Polyvore or Pinterest). Part II: Create a Theme, Color, and Textile Story • Define the theme, fusing visual and verbal elements together that illustrate the mood or spirit of the fashion forecast presentation. • Describe the relevant information of the color and textile story of the theme. • Create another collage of six colors and four fabrics (use the Design Options and Pantone websites for color options). Part III: Define the Style and Silhouette Direction • Describe the style and silhouette direction that correlate to the theme chosen for the final project (use firstVIEW and Style.com to review designer lines). • Create three silhouettes to specify three looks in total (only one can be a dress). • Devise and assign a style number or a name for each silhouette (only give numbers or names to clothing). Part IV: Summarize Additional Research • Select one group from the Nielsen PRIZM Lifestage Groups and describe their lifestyle, demographic, and consumer behavior information. • Analyze two competitors, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each competing company against the chosen company. • Identify the price structure, appearance, selection, and quality of the competing products. Part V: Forecast the Bestsellers • Assess the popularity of the styles from the style and silhouette milestone paper by ranking the styles in numerical order from 1 to 10, with 1 being the best style. • Defend the placement of each style in its rank with research. Part VI: Final Fashion Forecast Presentation • Describe all aspects of the chosen styles or trends so well that a reader can easily recognize them and immediately know how they function. • Create a PowerPoint presentation that is graphically and visually appealing, constituting a wonderful combination of images and words. • Compose speaker notes steeped in fashion-industry jargon, tone, and verbiage. Milestone Two: Create a Theme, Color, and Textile Story In task 3-3, you will submit a 2–3-page paper in Word that creates a theme, color, and textile story for a fashion forecast presentation, keeping in mind the target customer. The last page of this paper should include a collage of six colors and four fabrics (using the Design Options and Pantone websites for color options). This task will be graded with the Theme, Color, and Textile Story Rubric. For this milestone paper, create a theme, color, and textile story for your fashion forecast presentation. This project will be based on the trends that you can source online for fall/winter of this or next year. When creating the theme, color, and textile story, keep in mind the target customer of your fashion company. Begin the paper by defining the story’s theme. The theme will become the unifying force of this paper. The best theme will fuse visual and verbal elements together that illustrate the mood or spirit of the story that is being created for a fashion forecast presentation. This article in the French Vogue has some good examples of theme names that create an image in the minds of readers. For instance, the theme name “Tomboy” tells the reader that women will be wearing menswear-influenced clothing. The next portion of your paper will describe the relevant information of the color and textile story of the theme. The last page should include a collage of six colors and four fabrics. You can use the Design Optionsand Pantone websites for color options. Please submit your assignment to the Turnitin item below. For additional details, please refer to the Final Project document.
